Written in Phoenix sometime in 2015 after the unexpected end to a long relationship. Was sitting in the middle of my living room noodling around on my guitar when I came up with the opening guitar riff. I instantly loved it and decided to record some ideas for it. Usually what I do is grab the recorder, turn it on, and just let it go while I play through a song several times and improvise the lyrics / melody until I find something I like. What happened with this piece was something so rare for me.
This recording was done in 1 take with improvised words and melody. It's a little rough around the edges but I think it captures so well the song's mood as well as my feelings.
If there's one thing I'm grateful for with this art form, it's that I can express myself instantaneously. For me, that's a beautiful thing.
